Are you looking for a wine that is deliciously sweet? Mead is fermented with honey, water and yeast and is sometimes referred to as ‘honey wine’. Ancient Greeks believed the drink was sent from heaven and collected by bees, which explains why it was commonly referred to as “nectar of the gods”.

The term “honeymoon” comes from medieval times when it was suggested that newlyweds should drink ‘honey wine’ for a full moon cycle. This tradition was meant to help the couple have plenty of children, something considered so valuable that the bride's father would provide a month’s worth of mead for the couple.

Mead can come in a range of varieties including sweet, dry, still or sparkling.
