Montepulciano
The Montepulciano grape originated in Italy and is used to produce red wine. The wine delivers a dry, medium-bodied taste to the palette with a complex array of fruity flavours.
The Montepulciano is ideal to grow in warmer climates as it is a grape that will ripen later in the season.
Montepulciano was only planted in Australia less than 15 years ago but is slowly increasing in popularity. Select Montepulciano wines have been featured at prominent Australian wine shows including Ballycroft Barossa Valley, Woodstock McLaren Vale and Red Feet King Valley.
In 2017, 24 Montepulciano wines were judged at the Australian Alternative Varieties Wine Show. There were four gold medals, seven silver medals and five bronze medals awarded.
This wine is paired nicely with other Italian food classics such as pizza and pasta.
