Port wine is a fortified wine that originates from Porto, Portugal. Port is made from grapes grown in the Douro region and is mixed with a grape spirit known as aguardiente.

The wine is a heavy, sweet wine that usually contains a high content of alcohol. Tawny port is a popular style of port that is produced from red grapes and aged in wooden barrels.
