Gewurztraminer

Gewurztraminer is a white grape that comes from Tramino, Italy. The grape produces wine with strong fruity aromas including lychee, grapefruit, peach, apricot, pineapple and cantaloupe. It’s a light pink grape that is often compared to Moscato for its many similarities. Although, Gewurztraminer has a higher alcohol content than Moscato and also lower acidity.

Alsace is the largest grower of Gewurztraminer in the world with approximately 7,000 acres of plantations. The United States are also large growers of this grape with roughly 3,200 acres of plantations.

This wine is best paired with Middle Eastern cuisine. The ginger aromas in the wine beautifully bring out the beautiful ginger flavours used in many Middle Eastern dishes.
