Nero D'Avola
Nero D’Avola is a Sicilian red grape that hails from the Syracuse/Ragusa region. Over time, the grape slowly spread across the entirety of Sicily as popularity for the wine increased.
The grape is a full-bodied wine, very similar to Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot. Popular varieties exhibit strong tastes of black plum, black cherry, licorice, tobacco and chile pepper.
Australia and California are popular produces of Nero D’ Avola as the vine is best suited to grow in warm, dry climates.
The alcohol content for this type of wine is categorised as ‘medium plus’ with an ABV between 13.5% - 14.5%.
The Nero D’Avola has a moderate acidity which most commonly represents the tartness of a lemon.
Due to the strong fruity flavours, Nero D’Avola is a great addition to mushroom soups, stews, or burgers.
