Smederevka

Smederevka is a white grape variety that hails from the Smederevo region in Serbia. The grape is also popularly grown in the Tikves region of Macedonia.

Smederevka is sometimes blended with the Welschriesling wine grape variety.

This grape tends to ripen late and produces wines that contain high levels of acidity and sugar. Smederevka wine usually contains high alcohol levels. It’s important that when this wine is blended with other grapes it is paired with grapes that have low alcohol and acidity, so a nice balance is found.

Some people choose to drink Smederevka wine with carbonated water because of the high acidity levels.
