Semillon

Semillon is an extremely popular grape in France being the countries third most planted grape variety, behind Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay.

Lemon, green apple, pear and papaya are the primary flavours found in Semillon wine. The flavours can alter depending on where the grape is grown. In warmer climates like Australia, California and South Africa the grape tends to ripen more and allows for flavours such as mango, yellow peach and papaya to be present. The Semillon wine produced in warmer climates generally have a high alcohol content than the cooler climate.

In the cooler climates, the grape is picked when it is less ripe and zestier flavours are found including lemon and grapefruit.
