Sauvignon Blanc
Sauvignon Blanc comes from the Bordeaux region of France and is a green-skinned grape variety. As Sauvignon Blanc is one of the most popular planted grapes around the world there is many different styles and flavours to choose from.
Sauvignon Blancs’ primary fruit flavours consist of lime, green apple, passion fruit and white peach. The flavours will differ depending on how ripe the grape is. A less ripe grape will contain stronger flavours of lime and a more ripe grape will contain flavours of white peach.
Aromas often found in Sauvignon Blanc include basil, tarragon, lovage, lemongrass and green bell pepper.
Nearly all Sauvignon Blanc wines are a dry white except for a handful of producers in California and New Zealand who often leave some residual sugar in to create a richer texture.
