Gage Roads’ Dawn Patrol Breakfast Stout collab with Twin Peaks Coffee brings two of our liquid loves together in a harmonious blend of beer and bean. Twin Peak’s Yellow Bourbon variety, sourced from a farm in Carmo De Minas, Brazil, was brewed at Gage in large scale batches before blending with the stout base. Expect rich chocolate fudge and massive espresso on a smooth palate, with dry length at 6% abv.
An initial impression is one of: “Wow, that’s at lot of coffee!”, before espresso notes meld with cacao and dusty Bourneville tones. A smooth palate cloisters bitterness, running maturely dry – this ain’t a pastry party. As for whether the bean caffeine transfers, most breakfast stouts feature less than five percent of the caffeine found in one cup of coffee, which may be just enough for the swell crowd’s dawn patrol - Guy Southern - The Crafty Pint.
