Amaro Montenegro was founded in 1885 and originally went by the name - Elisir Lungavita. The name would change to Amaro Montenegro 11 years later to pay respect to Princess Elena of Montenegro.
The spirit is comprised of 40 botanicals that have been sourced from different locations around the world. The main botanicals include nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves, coriander seeds and dried oranges.
The variety of botanicals allow for many different notes to emerge including spicy and floral, sweet and roasted, fresh and balsamic, fruity and sweet, and warm and tropical. At the end of the distillation process, Il Premio is added to create a seventh tasting note. Il Primo is a potent mix an only one litre is needed for every 15,000 bottles!
