The Evan Williams distillery would emerge in 1783, situated nearby to the Ohio River. To this day, their process remains largely the same to deliver a well-rounded, smooth-tasting bourbon.
The process begins by carefully selecting the finest corn, malted barley and rye. These ingredients are then ground together. The ground ingredients are cooked in Kentucky limestone water to create a sour mash. Once the fermentation and distillation has occurred, the whiskey is reduced to the required proof and transferred to white oak barrels. The barrels are now ready for maturation, which can range between 4 and 20 plus years.
Evan Williams precise method for making whiskey has made them the second largest Kentucky straight bourbon sold in the world.
The black label is 86 proof with strong notes of caramel and oak.
