Their wood barrels are air dried between 18 - 48 months. This allows for the natural properties of the wood to be increased which allows for enhanced flavour, while at the same time lowering tannin levels that find their way into the whiskey.
Michter’s continually heat cycle their barrels so the whiskey goes in and out of the wood barrels which allows for strong flavours to emerge. Although this process can be rather costly, Michter’s believe it is necessary to create the best possible whiskey.
The Single Barrel is bottled at 84.8 proof and aged in American white oak barrels. You will experience tasting notes of rich butterscotch and oak with a subtle hint of citrus.
