Smirnoff Gold Cinnamon is an exquisite vodka infused with natural cinnamon and edible 23-carat gold leaves. Smirnoff Vodka was first established in Moscow in 1864 by Pyotr Arsenjevetich Smirnov.
The vodka business originally traded as PA Smirnoff. By 1886, the business had a firm grip on two-thirds of the vodka market in Moscow. This can be attributed to Smirnoff being the first brand to advertise in the newspapers. Vladimir Smirnov, the son of Pyotr, would take the business to heightened success after his father's death, selling 4 million cases of Smirnoff vodka annually.
The business would expand after Vladimir sold a New Your City businessman the rights to make Smirnoff Vodka in North America. After slow sales, the rights to Smirnoff was acquired by importer/exporter company - Heublein.
Cleverly understanding that America at the time were huge whiskey drinkers, Heublein would market Smirnoff as a ‘white whiskey’ with no taste and no smell. This strategy worked and Smirnoff grew into a vodka favourite around the world.
