Whisky Overview:
The Corowa Distilling Cask 13 Bastard Barrel 17 Year is described as "an orphaned barrel", brought all the way from Tasmania to NSW, where the "poor bastard" found a home at the Corowa Distilling Co. As one of Australia's oldest whiskeys, the Cask 13 is aged in a Bourbon barrel for 16 years, followed by another 12 months in Sherry casks.
About Corowa Distillery:
In 2010, Corowa Distilling Co. Founder Dean Druce was brought up learning the family business of wheat, chocolate and liquorice in the small town of Junee, NSW. The plot for whisky making was bought for $1.00, under the condition that it be restored to its former glory, and so it has. The founders have long shared their passion for whisky making and have been fortunate to spend time learning how to make whisky from well known master distillers in Scotland.
