The Founder’s Reserve pays tribute to George Smith, the founder of Glenlivet whisky. In 1824 George Smith set out to become the first legal distillery in the parish of Glenlivet.
This didn’t sit too well with illegal distillers in the area who would threaten Smith with his life. These threats would cause him to carry around two pistols at all times for protection. George Smith’s bravery and courage to stand up to death threats is used as a defining characteristic for their whisky making today.
The Founders Reserve is made using traditional methods developed by George Smith dating back to the 1800’s. The Founders Reserve is whisky selected from a range of casks comprised of different ages.
This whisky is then blended with American first-fill oak casks to deliver a mix of creamy, smooth flavours.
